The Black Dragon Premium Cable features 4 x 21.5AWG Teflon-insulated stranded conductors using pure single crystallized UP-OCC pure copper with 7N purity 99.99998%. Dragon Premium cables offer the same quality construction as our standard Dragon cables, but with extras like Mundorf Msolder SUPREME SilverGold and premium rhodium-plated Furutech connectors that look and feel great while enhancing your listening pleasure.

Black Dragon Sound Signature

The Black Dragon is warm and smooth with a musical presentation. Copper strands enhance the body, shape, and immediacy of the music. The detail and expansiveness of the Black Dragon make it a flexible fit where a broad range of musical genres are played. It can also improve bass frequencies on bass-light headphones.

The smooth, musical quality makes it a perfect fit for headphones that tend to sound a bit edgy or bright. Despite its warmth, the Black Dragon does not have a laid back, lush sound. It is much closer to neutral, making it a very natural sounding cable.

Cable Design

The Black Dragon features 4 x 21.5AWG Teflon-insulated stranded conductors using pure single crystallized UP-OCC pure copper with 7N purity 99.99998%. Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry. The copper stranding is mixed with Kevlar stranding to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing a headphone cable receives. The conductors are then surrounded by cotton and then a layer of Teflon tape. The new version is also shielded and placed in a polyethylene jacket for further protection.

On the headphone connection side, we are using the Furutech FT-610 connector. Furutech’s beautifully finished, beautiful sounding FT-610 connectors are the result of meticulous engineering and careful audition of various suitable materials. The FT-610 features a α (Alpha) phosphor bronze conductor and Nylon+Fiberglass 15% insulation for minimal impedance and a nonmagnetic stainless and carbon fiber finished main body and nonmagnetic stainless end ring for superior damping. The pins are nonmagnetic rhodium-plated α (Alpha) phosphor bronze conductors.

The default 1/4" plug is the Furutech CF-763. Furutech’s beautifully finished, beautiful sounding CF-763 connectors are the result of meticulous engineering and careful audition of various suitable materials. The CF-763 features a nonmagnetic rhodium-plated α (Alpha) phosphor bronze conductor and fluoropolymer insulation for minimal impedance and a nonmagnetic stainless and carbon fiber finished housing for superior damping.

For XLR connections there are two options. The FP-601M(R) XLR uses a Beryllium copper and phosphor bronze α (Alpha) conductor; the body is a copper alloy with PVDF fluoropolymer insulation. The second option is the top-of-the-line CF-601M(R) XLR, which utilizes an α (Alpha) beryllium copper and phosphor bronze rhodium-plated conductor with carbon fiber and nonmagnetic stainless steel housing. The body is PVDF fluoropolymer insulation with a specially designed cable strain relief.
