All of our cables are created with ultra-pure, single-crystal silver and copper strands and engineered to provide the cleanest, most musical presentation. The Silver Dragon Coax Digital Cable features a 22 AWG solid-core center conductor made from 99.998% ultra-pure silver, representing the finest digital conductor available. Surrounding this conductor is a solid FPE (Fluorinated Polyethylene) dielectric core, one of the lowest-loss dielectric materials in existence, which minimizes signal degradation throughout the transmission path.
The cable's comprehensive multi-layer shielding begins with a pure copper foil shield providing 100% coverage, followed by a silver-plated copper braided jacket that also offers 100% coverage. A Teflon tape isolation layer is added, followed by a secondary silver-plated copper 100% braided jacket. Finally, a Techflex outer jacket completes the construction. This shielding architecture eliminates RF and EMI interference while maintaining the precise 75-ohm impedance critical for jitter-free digital transmission.
Important: The Silver Dragon Coax Digital Cable is flexible and easy to route, but never kink any digital cable–doing so disrupts impedance and introduces jitter that degrades sound quality.
What is UP-OCC?
UP-OCC stands for Ultra-Pure Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC). This is not a material, but a way of extruding silver and copper to prevent any impurities and fractures in the crystalline structure of the wire. The wire is drawn very slowly to cast as an almost perfect single crystal small-diameter conductor. The resulting purity and the size of the cast wire make a tremendous difference and there is less damage to the near-perfect cast state. We find this UP-OCC process produces a very clean and close to neutral sound in our copper-based and silver-based cables.
