Neutral & exciting sound with tantalizing transparency. More details
Sit back and enjoy heavenly melodies from this natural-sounding headphone. The HiFiMan SUSVARA Open Back Headphones feature an advanced magnet design for acoustic invisibility, reducing distortion for a purer, more harmonious sound.
With a dark wood veneer and brushed metal aesthetic, the SUSVARA takes many design cues from the HiFiMan HE1000 series. The HiFiMan SUSVARA features big round ear cups and a metal alloy adjustable headband with a perforated suede strap underneath. The flexible ergonomic design allows you to fold the SUSVARA flat and swivel the ear cups to face down. Soft, cushy ear pads and just the right amount of clamping force make the SUSVARA a comfortable headphone for long listening sessions.
As a low-sensitivity headphone, the SUSVARA can benefit from a high-quality and potent amplifier to drive it to peak performance. The sound of the SUSVARA is big and bold, wonderfully immersive and musical with a huge bottom end that is clean, well-defined, and detailed. You can expect immersive detail retrieval across the entire frequency spectrum. Vocals are rich and emotive, and the treble has great sparkle with a deep and wide soundstage.
The HiFiMan SUSVARA planar magnetic headphones have the neutrality that many audiophiles like, but with enough musicality that they never sound bland or boring.
The HiFiMan SUSVARA Headphones feature HiFiMan's proprietary Stealth Magnets technology. In the SUSVARA, the magnet design is intended to be as invisible — or as acoustically transparent — as possible. Unlike the sound waves created by a conventional magnet, the special shape of the stealth magnets in the SUSVARA enables the waves to pass through the magnet without generating interference. The Stealth Magnets dramatically reduce wave diffraction turbulence which degrades the integrity of the sound waves. The result is reduced distortion, yielding a purer, more harmonious sound that is audibly so.
The degradation of sound quality in a conventional planar magnetic headphone is caused by the magnets getting in the way of the sound wave.
The same happens in conventional eletrostatic headphones, the degradation of sound quality caused by the stator's interference.
A conventional dynamic driver's frequency response can be altered due to distortions and vibrations across the diaphragm surface.
The planar magnetic driver's incredible thinness, less than a millionth of a meter and extremely low mass means it can produce tremendously low distortion levels yet offer a highly dynamic response.
By combining this diaphragm and "Stealth Magnet" technology each working in harmony, the audio produced is of a remarkable tonal quality and clarity.
The "Window Shade" on the SUSVARA has been painstakingly optimized to avoid any resonant frequencies. The optimized window shade leads to superior aural purity, tonally clean and unadulterated yet provides practical protection for the ultra-fine diaphragm and additional offering an appealing visual aesthetic.
Special ergonomic design for superb comfort and extended listening.
In general, planar magnetic headphones enjoy more power and the low sensitivity of the HiFiMan SUSVARA requires a little extra boost. The EF1000 is the SUSVARA's official amplifier, which utilizes a separate power supply design. Its SSRP circuit uses six 6922 vacuum tubes and six pairs of transmitters in parallel. The result is a perfect combination of the beautiful sound from the vacuum tubes and the powerful output of a solid-state headphone amp.
The cable configuration used for the SUSVARA is a single crystalline copper wire alongside a single crystalline silver wire. A special composition ratio and quantity of the materials have ensured low resistance in the signal transmission and high mechanical strength for daily use which should ensure a long and fruitful existence.
The cables are all user swappable and have channel orientation for left and right marked. Further an “L” and “R” are indicated inside the headband. Once the cable is connected to the correct channel orientation, an easy way to tell left from right is that the cable is connected slightly towards the front of the ear cup. The cable then should gently drape across the user’s chest for greater comfort.
