Black Dragon and Rosson Audio Design
The Black Dragon is designed to add warmth and richness to the bottom end without losing any clarity in the sound signature. The Black Dragon will smooth out the top end and provide a fuller presentation with more weight to the sound.
This cable is warmer in nature than our Silver Dragon Premium Stellia V3 headphone cable. It is extremely smooth sounding with great low end and wonderful voicing. It is not a laid back lush or dark sounding cable.
It smooths out the top end making it a little less analytical and a little more natural sounding. It also adds bottom end weight to the lower frequencies and provides a fuller sound and wider soundstage.
Most stock headphone cables are made of poor ultra thin conductors that work as a bottleneck for the sound but the Black Dragon V2 cable uses 4 x 21.5AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors using pure single crystallized UP-OCC pure copper with 7N purity 99.99998%. Yes, you will be able to hear and see the difference in our hand-crafted cables!
Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry. The copper stranding is mixed with Kevlar stranding to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing a headphone cable receives. The conductors are then surrounded by cotton and then a layer of Teflon tape. This V2 version is now also shielded and placed in a polyethylene jacket for further protection.
The wire is soldered to the connector with high-quality silver solder. The default 1/4" Plug is the new Furutech CF-763. Furutech’s beautifully finished, beautiful sounding CF-763 connectors are the result of meticulous engineering and careful audition of various suitable materials. The CF-763 features a Nonmagnetic Rhodium-plated α (Alpha) phosphor bronze conductor and Fluoropolymer insulation for minimal impedance and a nonmagnetic stainless and carbon fiber finished housing for superior damping.
For XLR connections there are 2 choices. The FP-601M（R) XLR which uses a Beryllium copper and phosphor bronze α (Alpha) Conductor: the body is a Copper alloy with PVDF Fluoropolymer insulation. The second choice is the top of the line CF-601M（R）XLR which utilizes an α (Alpha) Beryllium copper and phosphor bronze Rhodium-plated Conductor with Carbon fiber and nonmagnetic stainless steel housing. The Body is PVDF Fluoropolymer insulation with a Specially designed cable strain relief.
