Dragon Cable Recommendation: We recommend pairing the TEAC UD-507 DAC, Preamp, Headphone Amp with the Silver Dragon Interconnect Cable with XLR and RCA connectors for audio device linking. Sold in pairs, our interconnect cables offer a remarkable solution where noise isolation is key. Our Silver Dragon USB Cable will deliver seamless digital transmission between your source device and the TEAC UD-507. For connecting an external master clock, we recommend our Silver Dragon Coax Digital Cable with RCA connectors. You'll get the best possible digital transmission when timing matters the most. To efficiently power the unit, our Black Dragon Power Cable will do the trick. Designed to be dead quiet and reject all EMI and RFI interference, the Black Dragon Power Cable will work perfectly with the TEAC UD-507. Lastly, the Silver Dragon Network Cable will ensure a stable ethernet connection for music streaming and data transmission. The solid- core silver conductors in the cable provide high speed, low latency, and low jitter-perfect bit rate communication between audio components.
Space-Saving Compact Design
The TEAC UD-507 DAC, Preamp, Headphone Amp features an all-new chassis design with a 2.8mm thick top plate and a transformer suspended from the base plate in a floating structure to minimize and prevent internal vibrations. The structure is designed to reduce the number of screws used to secure the board to prevent vibration from being transmitted to the board. A new mechanism, TEAC's Stainless Feet v2 has a gap between the bottom plate and the foot to control vibrations that affect sound quality. At around 3.3" tall and slightly wider than a piece of paper at 11.4" the TEAC UD-507 is a modular unit that can sit on a bookshelf, fit in an audio system rack, and can be easily moved at only 10.8 lbs in weight. The TEAC UD-507 comes with a battery-operated remote control allowing freedom of movement away from the unit to adjust the volume, skip tracks, and more.
The TEAC UD-507 features many analog and digital audio inputs (balanced inputs, unbalanced inputs) as well as several outputs for headphone listening, streaming, device interconnecting, and more. Swapping between multiple headphones is easy with a 6.3mm TRS stereo jack, 4-pin XLR connector, and 4.4mm balanced headphone output. Use the USB Type-C port on the unit's front panel to connect a smartphone or tablet for music streaming and data transmission. In addition to 44.1kHz and 48kHz internal clocks, a 10MHz external clock can be added to the UD-507 using the external clock input on the rear panel. See the specifications section for a full list of analog/digital inputs and outputs.
Advanced Technology for a Highly Musical Sound
The TEAC UD-507 DAC, Preamp, Headphone Amp is equipped with TEAC's proprietary TRDD5 Discrete DAC that delivers a highly musical sound. This new DAC offers a clear soundstage and accurate imaging for a truly immersive listening experience where you can discover the breadth and articulation of your favorite artists that you never noticed before.
This Discrete DAC, developed in-house, incorporates a proprietary algorithm that processes all digital signals input into the UD-507 at 64-bit/52Fs by the delta-modulator in the FPGA and converts them to analog signals by 16 elements per channel. The DSD signal is processed directly, while the PCM signal is converted to a 1-bit signal by a delta-sigma modulator before being output as a high-quality analog signal. The D/A converter section is independent of the left and right channels preventing interference between L/R signals and reproduces music with a spacious and three-dimensional soundstage.
TEAC has implemented TEAC-HCLD2 output buffer circuits to increase the current transfer capabilities of the UD-507's integrated amplifier and preamplifier. These buffer circuits are enhanced versions of TEAC's HCLD (High Current Line Driver) circuits. Each channel has a positive and negative dual circuit structure with high-current diamond buffer amplifiers being used as line drivers. By increasing the current handling capability, the TEAC UD-507 can transmit the dynamics of audio signals without any loss or degradation.
An upsampling function on the TEAC UD-507 uses RDOT-NEO (Refined Digital Output Technology NEO) to smoothly augment PCM digital audio signals and upconvert their sampling frequencies 2,4, or 8 times. This technology was developed to enable reproduction and playback of frequencies higher than 20kHz that are lost by 44.1kHz/48kHz digital signals. Two large toroidal core transformers—one for analog and digital processing boards—are separated to avoid mutual interference and maintain the purity of the analog signal.
Lastly, Bulk Pet USB Transfer Technology enables stable data transmission when using the USB ports on the TEAC UD-507 to transmit large amounts of digital data from high-resolution audio sources. Since changes in computer load conditions can also affect audio quality, you can select from four preset transmission modes to choose the preferred audio quality.
Fully Balanced Dual Monaural Headphone Amplifier
The TEAC UD-507 DAC, Preamp, Headphone Amp is equipped with a dedicated headphone amplifier that uses four diamond buffer circuits, one positive and negative circuit on each channel, to allow connection of balanced headphones. Compared to the previous model, the maximum output power has been greatly improved by strengthening the power supply, resulting in a generous driving power of 1,200mW + 1,200mW (balanced output at 100 ohm load), which is comparable to a dedicated headphone amplifier without DAC. The power amplifier gain can be switched between 3 positions (Low/Mid/High) to fine-tune the output to best match the sensitivity and impedance of the headphones. Users can easily drive high-impedance headphones, including those upwards of 600 ohms.
High-Quality Preamplifier with Multiple Analog/Digital Inputs
The TEAC UD-507 DAC, Preamp, Headphone Amp incorporates the TEAC-QVCS (Quad Volume Control System) high precision analog volume attenuator and the powerful TEAC-HCLD2 high current line buffer circuit. The QVCS technology uses a variable gain controller with four independent circuits for left, right, positive, and negative to minimize the signal path and prevent audio signal degradation due to signal line routing. It also provides fine volume control in 0.5dB increments so you can set the volume level that best suits your audio system and headphones.
With five digital inputs and two analog inputs (unbalanced and balanced), a wide variety of devices can be connected to the TEAC UD-507. The unit has two digital audio inputs each for coaxial and optical digital, as well as RCA and XLR analog inputs, allowing it to be used as not only a USB DAC but also a high-quality analog preamplifier.
Bluetooth, Multipoint Connection, and Support for Hi-Res Audio
As if the TEAC UD-507 DAC, Preamp, Headphone Amp isn't already enticing enough, the unit is equipped with Bluetooth and a multipoint connection for endless hi-fi playback possibilities. Users can wirelessly connect two devices at the same time and seamlessly switch between them for listening. Jump from a smartphone to a tablet and back to the smartphone without ever having to disconnect one of the devices. The UD-507 supports LDAC and LHDC codecs, capable of transmitting high-resolution audio data (96kHz/24-bit), as well as Qualcomm aptX HD, which is capable of transmitting at 48kHz/24-bit. The unit also supports codecs such as AAC, Qualcomm aptX, and SBC for high-quality wireless playback from smartphones and DAPs (Digital Audio Players.) Lastly, the TEAC UD-507 has a MQA full decoder that enables playback at the same quality level as studio monitors. Playback of MQA CDs is possible by connecting the digital output of a CD player to the UD-507.
The TEAC UD-507 supports TEAC's free dedicated software, TEAC HR Audio Player, which easily plays 22.5MHz DSD and 384kHz/32-bit PCM from Windows and Macintosh computers. Compatible with most TEAC audio products, users can transmit digital audio data through a USB cable connected to the UD-507.
