Most stock headphone cables are made of poor, ultra-thin conductors that work as a bottleneck for sound. Poor geometries, no shielding, rubber jackets, and a whole host of other issues in OEM cables can limit the performance of the headphone driver in terms of clarity and definition.

Dragon Cables are handcrafted from quality materials in Moon Audio's headquarters in Cary, North Carolina. All of our cables are created with ultra-pure, single-crystal silver and copper strands and engineered to provide the cleanest, most musical presentation. Our wire is void of impurities and crystalline boundaries, leaving nothing between you and your music.

Premium Dragon Cables offer the same quality construction as the standard line, featuring UP-OCC 99.99998% pure conductors and matching cable designs with a few upgrades. Cardas Silver Solder is replaced with Mundorf MSolder SUPREME Silver-Gold mix at every connection point, and premium Furutech Rhodium connectors are included to enhance the look, feel and listening pleasure of all your hifi music sessions. When you are trying to squeeze out every last percentage point of performance, the Premium version makes sense. The Furutech Top Line connectors are quite simply the best made, and every point of signal saturation makes a difference.

Is there a night and day difference between the sound quality of the standard and premium? No. Is the Premium the best of the best? Yes. These cables are meant for cream-of-the-crop headphones where every detail makes a difference in bringing you closer to audio bliss.

Black Dragon Sound Signature

The Black Dragon is warm and smooth with a musical presentation. Copper strands enhance the body, shape, and immediacy of the music. The detail and expansiveness of the Black Dragon make it a flexible fit where a broad range of musical genres are played. It can also improve bass frequencies on bass-light headphones.

The smooth, musical quality makes it a perfect fit for headphones that tend to sound a bit edgy or bright. Despite its warmth, the Black Dragon does not have a laid back, lush sound. It is much closer to neutral, making it a very natural sounding cable.

Black Dragon and Sony

The Black Dragon is designed to add warmth and richness to the bottom end without losing any clarity in the sound signature. The Black Dragon will smooth out the top end and provide a fuller presentation with more weight to the sound.

Sony Connectors

Sony headphones primarily use one of three headphone connectors. This premium cable is available in your choice of the standard 3.5mm connector or the screw-type 3.5mm connector.

Cable Design

Most stock headphone cables are made of poor ultra thin conductors that work as a bottleneck for the sound but the Black Dragon Premium headphone cable uses 4 x 21.5AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors using pure single crystallized UP-OCC pure copper with 7N purity 99.99998%. Yes, you will be able to hear and see the difference in our hand-crafted cables!

Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry. The copper stranding is mixed with Kevlar stranding to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing a headphone cable receives. The conductors are then surrounded by cotton and then a layer of Teflon tape. This V2 version is now also shielded and placed in a polyethylene jacket for further protection.

The wire is soldered to the connector with high-quality silver solder. The default 1/4" plug is the new Furutech CF-763. Furutech’s beautifully finished, beautiful-sounding CF-763 connectors are the result of meticulous engineering and careful audition of various suitable materials. The CF-763 features a nonmagnetic rhodium-plated α (Alpha) phosphor bronze conductor and fluoropolymer insulation for minimal impedance and a nonmagnetic stainless and carbon fiber finished housing for superior damping.

For XLR connections there are two options. The FP-601M（R) XLR uses a beryllium copper and phosphor bronze α (Alpha) conductor; the body is a copper alloy with PVDF fluoropolymer insulation. The second option is the top-of-the-line CF-601M（R）XLR, which utilizes an α (Alpha) beryllium copper and phosphor bronze rhodium-plated conductor with carbon fiber and nonmagnetic stainless steel housing. The body is PVDF fluoropolymer insulation with a specially designed cable strain relief.
