Black Dragon Premium Cable for Sennheiser HD800 Headphones V2
Black Dragon V2 Premium HD800 headphone cable is the ULTIMATE choice for your Sennheiser HD800.
It includes premium Rhodium Furutech Connectors that both look and sound amazing!
It is extremely smooth sounding with great low end and wonderful voicing.
Most stock headphone cables are made of poor ultra thin conductors that work as a bottle neck for the sound but the Black Dragon V2 cable uses 4 x 21.5AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors using pure single crystallized UP-OCC pure copper with 7N purity 99.99998%. Yes, you will be able to hear and see the difference in our hand-crafted cables!
Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry. The copper stranding is mixed with Kevlar stranding to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing a headphone cable receives. The conductors are then surrounded by cotton and then a layer of Teflon tape. This V2 version is now also shielded and placed in a polyethylene jacket for further protection.
Black Dragon Sound Signature
This cable is warmer in nature than our Silver Dragon V3 headphone cable. It is extremely smooth sounding with great low end and wonderful voicing. It is not a laid back lush or dark sounding cable.
It smooths out the top end making it a little less analytical and a little more natural sounding. It also adds bottom end weight to the lower frequencies and provides a fuller sound and wider soundstage.
The Premium Difference
The difference between the Standard Black Dragon and the Premium Black Dragon are the connectors used on each end and a harder to work with higher silver yield solder. The wire is identical. When you are trying to squeeze out every last percentage point of performance, the Premium version makes sense. The Furutech Top Line connectors are quite simply the best made. And every point of signal saturation will make a difference. Is there a night and day difference between the sound quality of the standard and premium? No. Is the Premium the best of the best? Yes. These cables are meant for the cream of the crop headphones where every little thing makes a difference in terms of bring you closer to audio nirvana.

"The Black Dragon and Silver Dragon cables…brought me closer to the music…closer to what I hear in live performances…The air and separation of the musicians and instruments were more noticeable. Vocals became crisper and the transparency increased. I could hear better tonality with the instruments...I forgot about the cables and just enjoyed the music."

This is a very acceptable tradeoff for the HD-800 in my opinion. Highly recommended!
My signal path: HD800<-Woo Audio WA5LE<-Mytek Brooklyn DAC<-Sonore microRendu<-Roon
I order headphone cables for my new Sennheisier H800S to pair with HDVD 800 amp. With their cables, it brings out the best of the sound quality. Bass are tight with clarity along with very clear high frequency sound as well.
I listen to some of the high definition classical music with different type of cables. Clearly, their products are the winner. Although the price is a little on the high side to my standard but they are my best audio equipment investment thus far.
I'm using a custom, high end solid state headphone amp with Mac Book Pro and Audio nirvarna as source.
The Cable is very attractive and resists tangling well.
Great group of folks over at Moon Audio. I recommend these cables to anyone considering.
A powerful bass has never been and was never intended to be this can's main focus. But If your ears would appreciate a bit more bass then this is a very good choice.
The overall resolution and imaging also improved, compared to the stock cable. It tamed the treble a bit as well. Not nearly to the point of the HD800s getting dark, just to a level where they are more comfortable to listen to. Listening fatigue is never a problem with this cable paired with the Senns.
It simply is a great fit with this headphone, and another great sounding cable from Moon Audio.
Thank you, Drew!
The previously rare sibilance of the HD800s is now gone with this cable. Overall, if you are looking to make the HD800 headphones less fatiguing and more enjoyable to listen to with genres such as Pop, EDM, Dubstep, etc., then this cable is a must have.
The whole thing just oozes quality. The cable is sleek and smooth aand resists tangling to a high degree.
- do you still/also recommend the Black Dragon V2 Premium even for the HD800S or
- is now the time for a (new) "Silver Dragon V3 Premium for HD800S" (which doesn't exist so far ... I think) ???
All I can say is that the upgrade from the stock cable to the Black Dragon was impressive enough to warrant the expenditure. I can't say that the HD800 sound is overly analytic in the first place. After the upgrade, detail has improved all over the spectrum and I like that a lot. I really don't understand when people talk about "too analytic". Maybe they just don't like the truth when it hits them?
