Headphone Cables

There are 2 versions of all the Headphone cables below. Those that can be connected to your Headphones directly with no modification such as the Sennheiser HD650, Sony Qualia or AKG min xlr type. Basically any cable that have a connection system. Please contact us for other connection headphone types. The second version is for cables that are hard wired. We can hard wire any of the cables below for the price of the cable listed below plus $40. This $40 cost is for most common Headphones. Silver Dragon Sennheiser Headphone Replacement Cable Version 2 (New)

This is the new Version 2 Silver Dragon Headphone cable for Sennheiser HD-650, HD-600 and HD-580 headphones and any other Sennheiser headphones that have the 2 pin connection system. We also use it for the Sony Qualia, AKG Pro Series and any other headphone that uses a connector attachment System. This cable can also be hard wired to Grado's, AKG, Audio Technica etc etc...

The cable uses a 4 99.99% pure silver 24AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors.

Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry. The silver stranding is mixed with Kevlar stranding to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing a headphone cable receives.

The conductors are then surrounded by cotton and then a layer of Teflon tape.

The new version is now also shielded and placed in a polyethylene jacket for further protection.

The Version 2 is quieter than the Version 1 with no micro phonics.

The pin connectors are soldered to the conductors and then molded to the cable. The splicing method used by other cable companies using a stock Sennheiser cable's connectors is a poor method. And defeats the purpose of replacing the cable. That method requires you to once more send the signal through the poor quality conductors in the stock Sennheiser cable as well as through one more solder joint. Moon Audio, Cardas and Zu are the only three cable companies I am aware of that use a preferred method of headphone connection method

The version 2 is more flexible than Version 1 and can be easily coiled up.

The wire is soldered to a Cardas GRSQ Rhodium/Silver plated stereo 1/4" connector with Cardas silver solder. The wire is then covered in 1 layers of Techflex braid.

The detail and speed of this cable is truly amazing in the midrange and high frequencies. It will shock you how much of a difference it will make over the stock cable. And will remove the veil all Sennheiser headphones seem to have.

Blue Dragon Sennheiser Headphone Replacement Cable Version 3 (New!!) Version 2 Sold Out

This is the new Blue Dragon Headphone Version 3 headphone replacement cable for Sennheiser HD-650, HD-600 and HD-580 headphones and any other Sennheiser headphones that have the 2 pin connection system. This cable been designed to match the Silver Dragon Headphone cable but with a copper conductor. It has the same geometry structure as the Silver Dragon Version 2 only it uses UP-OCC pure copper.

The cable uses a 4 99.999% pure copper 24AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors.

Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry. The copper stranding is mixed with Kevlar stranding to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing a headphone cable receives.

The wire is soldered to a Furutech FP-704 Gold plated stereo 1/4" connector with Cardas silver solder. The wire is then covered in 1 layer of black Techflex braid. The black over blue jacket give it a dark blue color.

The cable is extremely smooth sounding with great low end and wonderful voicing. And will remove the veil all Sennheiser headphones just like the Silver Dragon. Most stock headphone cables are made of poor ultra thin conductors that work as a bottle neck for the sound.

Black Dragon Headphone Replacement Cable

This is the Black Dragon Headphone Version 1 headphone replacement cable is our premiere hard wiring cable. This cable can hard wired to just about any headphone such as Grado's, AKG, Audio Technica etc etc...It is a wonderful match for the Grado GS-1000 and AKG k701.

The cable uses a 4 99.999% pure Copper 21.5 AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors.

Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry.

The conductors are braided into a special Geometry exactly the same as the Blue Dragon.

This Cable is unshielded. A shield is not necessary based on the geometry we have developed..

The wire is soldered to a Furutech FP-704 Gold plated stereo 1/4" connector with Cardas silver solder. The wire is then covered in 2 layers of Techflex braid.

What is the difference between a Moon Audio Portable Interconnect and a Moon Audio Portable Mini Cable. Basically it is half the wire. The Portable Interconnect is a pair of interconnects that is joined together at one end with a Mini. It is a higher quality sounding cable where flexibility is not a huge issue and more commonly used in a home based Headphone System with either a portable media player or computer. The Portable Mini Cable is more for on the go where flexibility and less bulk is a must, such as with an IPod and a Portable amp.

Silver Dragon Portable Interconnect Version 2 (New)

This is the new Version 2 Silver Dragon portable player cable and is based on the Silver Dragon Headphone Cable Geometry. It can be used to connect portable cd players, IPods etc. to your Headphone Amps or any audio system without any loss of quality to your signal. It has been designed on a cost no object basis. The finest materials were located and used. It starts with, in my opinion, one of the best connectors made, the Cardas GRMO. This male RCA connector is made of non-magnetic, eutectic Brass, Rhodium over Silver plate, with a gold plated Brass cover. Black Dragon Portable Mini Cable

The Black Dragon has been designed to compliment our silver line. We had many requests from our customers who had systems where silver just wasn't an ideal fit. So we set out to make the best possible copper cable per there request. What we ended up with exceeded our wildest dreams. An extremely smooth transparent and not all together to warm cable. For years my hearing tastes have always driven me in the direction of silver. I have never quite gotten in to the sound of copper. Well that has now changed. I tried to build a cable that gave me the great detail and presence of silver but also provided me with the smooth jazzy sound of copper. The Black Dragon does just that. Only your ears can be the judge.

We went back to our old copper version of the Blue Dragon and greatly expanded on it. We took what we learned from the Silver Dragon Speaker cables. Where we developed just the right ratio of different size stranding to optimize the sound. What we ended up with was the same geometry as the Blue Dragon but with an increase size in gauge and switching from solid core copper to a special stranded geometry. The stranding are all 99.9999% high quality low crystalline structure pure copper. We continued to use Teflon coating, as it is an obvious best dielectric. We then cover it in a protective layer of Techflex and solder your connector of choice. For the mini connection option, we continued with the great success of the Neutrik and Switchcraft. But offer several other choices. The end result is amazing....

Cardas Audio teamed up with the Headroom Corporation to develop a Headphone Interconnect cable, called HPI. This thin and flexible, 1 ft. cable is terminated with 1/8" stereo plugs on each end. It can link portable players to outboard amps, like Headroom’s high quality, portable AirHead.

Entry level cable, flexible, light, easy on the budget. Very popular starter cable. Cotton/Teflon dielectric 23.5 AWG, "Golden section" constant Q" enameled" Multi-gauge Litz" conductors, multi-gauge quad-ax construction, double shielded, neoprene jacket. This is the exact same cable as the Cardas Sennheiser replacement cable only the jacket is slightly different. We then take this and hard wire it to a Pocket Dock. This will bypass the internal headphone amp of the IPod which sounds pretty poor in my opinion. This enables you to run your IPod off your portable amp. An RCA version can also be made. Sennheiser Molds For DIY Headphone cables

Moon Audio is proud to announce the long awaited way for you DIYers to be able to build your own Senn cables.

Price $30/pair. one Red one Black.

Theses may need a little modification for Phones such as the HD25. But simply add some hot glue in the pocket once you solder your wires and then add a piece of Heashrink. We will make heatshrink available as well for your project.

Headphone Load Adapter

This is used to convert the load of your headphones. This particular version had 2 Vishay VK-55 resistors for use with a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 990. The value of 125ohm was used. $65 each and will use Caddock resistors.
