Update June 2024: The Matric Audio Mini-i Pro 4 DAC is officially Roon Ready. Matrix Audio has undergone a series of technical and functional requirements set by Roon Labs to become Roon certified. What is Roon Ready? Roon Ready refers to audio devices that have been certified by Roon Labs to work seamlessly with Roon, a popular high-resolution music playback and management software. Roon is known for its rich metadata, seamless integration with various music services, and advanced audio features. When a device is Roon Ready, it means it has been optimized to fully utilize Roon's capabilities, ensuring a high-quality, reliable, and user-friendly experience for the end-user.
To update your Mini-i Pro 4: Update your Roon software and put the Mini-i Pro 4 and the Roon Core on the same network. Roon will discover the Mini-i Pro 4 automatically and display the streamer under "Audio" in the Roon settings menu. Enable the Mini-i Pro 4 as a Roon Ready device and enjoy your music!

MA Player
MA Player is a high-quality digital audio and streaming playback control system developed by Matrix Audio. With MA Player, you can operate and control the Mini-I Pro 4 through a smartphone or tablet within your local area network. MA Player and MA Remote App are available for both iOS and Android. In addition, MA Player also integrates Roon Ready (certification underway), DLNA/UPnP, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect, allowing you to experience high-resolution streaming audio in your network.
MA Remote App
The MA Remote App is self-developed by Matrix Audio and is available for iPhone, iPad, and Android phones. With these devices, you can browse and play high-resolution online audio from TIDAL, Qobuz, and HighResAudio, listen to internet radio stations, adjust every hardware setting, and check for and install new firmware updates for your Mini-I Pro 4.
Sort Your Local Music, Play It Effortlessly
The mini-i Pro 4 supports local music playback from USB storage devices and NAS. It indexes the storage and builds a music library based on these storage sources automatically. Music files will be categorized under "Library" in the MA Remote App, allowing you to easily find your desired music based on albums, tracks, artists, genres, composers, performers, ages, labels, etc. Simply browse and play your music collections.
Hi-Res Streaming Integration
The Mini-i Pro 4 provides a rich selection of online streaming music resources for you. You can log into accounts of TIDAL, Qobuz, and HighResAudio in the MA Remote App, easily browse and play a vast amount of high-quality online streaming music, opening up an endless world of music for you.

I wanted a compact rig outside my main system to be located by my chair for when I didn't want to string an extension cable from my Chord DAVE to my chair. I just want something to stream my library to using JRiver Media Center. JRemote gives the control to easily navigate my library and play across my wired network to this Mini-I Pro 4 streamer. Of course when the day comes that this streamer is Roon Certified I'll certainly appreciate that rich feature set too, along with Qobuz. I think the sound quality is slightly better than what one would expect for this price point. At this point I've only auditioned it with my Focal Utopia headphones (with Black Dragon cable) but soon I'll switch over to my Audeze LCD-MX4 cans, which I think may sound a bit better.One important requirement I had was to support playback of my PGGB remastered 705.6/768kHz 24-bit files, which requires a wired network. This mini-I Pro 4 delivers the transparency and excellent transients I've come to love about the PGGB remastered music. The bass response is quite nice, tight and not boomy. I would recommend this network streamer to friends for certain. Visually it has a simple elegance and the quality display and easy touch screen navigation are very nice.

I ordered this to augment using my iPod Classic with my Alpha Design Labs X1 DAC/Amp. The cable that came with my X1 isn't terrible but it protrudes straight out from the bottom of those components. These are at 90 degrees which helps my iPod/X1 fit my jacket pocket better and I don't worry about ruining the connectors in those units or the cable itself. Works perfectly!

As many have written before me this is not just another dac. Whatever it does the outcome is pure music magic. It's like I spend another $10K to improve my system. It finally sounds expensive and incredibly enjoyable. Wow! This is to dacs what the iphone was to the flip phone.
