The Black Dragon Power Cord was designed to be used with all equipment in mind: DVD/CD Players, Dacs, to Home Theater Processor/Pre Amps and Monster amps. #6: Silver Dragon Coax Digital Cable
The Silver Dragon Digital cable will provide plenty of detail and an open presentation. It will provide a more cohesive sound with very fast attack and tight bass. This cable is by no means bright but also not warm. It will provide you with the best digital transmission possible for your digital gear. The Silver Dragon is fairly flexible and makes bends fairly easily. Make sure to never kink a digital cable as it will introduce jitter. We are using the WBT Nextgen Pure Silver 0102AG connector. Contacts utilize passivated pure fine silver. The body is constructed with brass and then platinum plated to give a nice aesthetic appeal. The central contact assembly is made of Ultramid® and the negative contact uses Dyneon™. The barrel is comprised of brass with a shiny black piano lacquer finish. The Silver Dragon can also be fitted with Furutech BNC Rhodium over Silver plate BNCs.
The center conductor is a 99.998% Ultra Pure Silver 22 AWG Solid Core conductor. Wrapped around the center conductor is a solid FPE center core, this is one of the best dielectrics used. For shielding, the core is first wrapped in a 100% Pure copper foil shield, followed by a silver-plated copper 100% coverage braided jacket. Then a layer of Teflon tape followed by a secondary silver plated copper 100% coverage braided jacket. Finally, an outer jacket is then covered in Techflex for good looks. Terminations include RCA, BNC, and any other custom 75ohm requirement. The connector is treated with Caig Labs ProGold Conditioning Treatment to keep the silver from oxidizing and providing the best contact possible. I recommend cleaning your connectors once a year no matter what the plating of the connector is. It will help keep the sound quality perform at an optimal level time and time again.
#5: Silver and Black Dragon USB Cables
There's an important distinction to make when it comes to audio-specified USB cables. Audio USB cables like Moon Audio's Silver and Black Dragon USB Cables are not meant for usual data transmission in the way that you would connect a hard drive to your computer. Audio cables do not need or utilize all the pins for data that standard USB cables utilize. They typically only use 4-5 pins for audio transfer, which is all you need. More pins mean faster rates and more data - but more conductors and more expensive cables. Do high-end cables make a difference? High-end audio cables use higher quality materials. Materials matter. Better materials mean better performance and longer life. The materials used in premium headphones and audio cables are irrefutably better quality than the materials used in OEM cables. This can translate to a number of improvements including better shielding, lower noise floor, natural dB boost, and overall improvement in clarity, soundstage, and definition of audio.
Do cables affect sound quality? They can, depending on the types of materials they use. Factors like shielding can legitimately affect the amount of interference and noise that the audio signal will be subjected to. Long cable runs can act as antennas and shielding is quite important. Materials like copper and silver conductors and the quality of those conductors will affect the sound signature of the audio. Oxygen-free conductors also sound different from cables with oxygen-laden conductors. There are many factors that can affect the overall audio quality of your cable. We use what is called UP-OCC. This stands for Ultra Pure Ohno Continuous casting. This is a process developed by Dr. Ohno of Japan. Conventional methods of extruding copper results in multiple and fractionated crystalline structure. Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) has a distinctive effect on your audio quality that some might find lacking. The OCC process uses a heated mold for extruding, whereas other processes involve a cooled mold. The cooling process in OCC takes place separately, resulting in larger crystal sizes and increased purity. So, from a materials perspective, the OCC process is far superior to OFC.
Are good audio cables important? Cables are the connection to your music, so having good audio cables is especially important to improve sound quality. Poor quality cables and poor connections can lead to noise, static, audio cutout, and much more, negatively affecting the quality of your music.
