The Nextgen has a Patented collect chuck device.

The contact quality of conventional RCA type plugs are often undeniably poor. The outer contact of RCA-type sockets vary between 7.95 and 8.55 mm in diameter, making many connectors sit in the socket rather badly.

WBT has developed the patented collect chuck clamping device in order to enable a firm fit of the plug in the socket being necessary for a good contact as well as a constant high pressure. The patented collet chuck device makes it possible for WBT RCA plugs to adjust to all kind of RCA type sockets perfectly.

You turn the outer sleeve in the direction of the cable and the sleeve's cone presses the three outer contact elements firmly together. This not only provides for the necessary high contact pressure but also clamps the plug firmly to the socket. Consequently, the transition resistance is not only extremely low, but first of all very stable.

Locking RCA Design

The patented WBT locking mechanism provides maximum contact pressure and prevents accidental disconnection of your cables. Attempts to improperly disconnect the connector may result in equipment damage. Follow the instructions below to ensure proper use and care.

Step 1:

Hold the cable by the base of the connector and loosen the barrel of the male connector by turning it clockwise.

Step 2:

Insert the cable connector into the RCA socket of your device.

Step 1:

Hold the cable by the base of the connector and tighten the barrel by turning it counter-clockwise.

To prevent damage, do not allow the connector body to turn. Do not overtighten.

Remember to reverse these steps when removing the cable.

Design and Construction

The RCA plug WBT-0102 Cu is a product of the nextgenTM series, the next generation of WBT's RCA type connectors. The model WBT-0102 offers a perfect combination of a robust, stable plug body and a filigree signal conductor with reduced mass placed in the front part of the plug.

Contacts utilize passivated pure copper. The body is constructed with brass and then Gold plated to give a nice asthetic appeal.

The central contact assembly is made of Ultramid® and the negative contact uses Dyneon™. The barrel is comprised of brass with a shiny black piano lacquer finish. A characteristic impedance of 75 ohms makes this a perfect match for digital audio and video.

The maximum size conductor that can be used is 1.5mm² / 16-17 AWG. Maximum diameter of cable with dielectric is 9mm² / 0.354 inches². The barrel is offered in black only.

The basic element having influence on the sound quality of WBT-0152 Cu is the Central Contact Unit which has been developed exactly the same way as for the plug model WBT-0110 Cu: minimal mass of signal conductors made of highly pure copper. Copper was chosen as one of the best electrical conductors which provide not only an ultra rapid signal transmission, but also an excellent fine resolution. This metal is of course nickel-free gold plated so that the surface does not oxidize which would affect the contact quality.

WBT-0152 Cu lies with its transmission bandwidth of up to 200 MHz far in excess of the transmission bandwidth of conventional RCA plugs.

Through the collect chuck device which works like a chuck of a drill machine the plug’s outer contact once inserted clamps firmly to the RCA socket. The maximum contact pressure provides not only a secure connection, but also minimizes the transition resistance.

Thanks to the two-piece clamping sleeve the sleeve’s cone does not turn while the clamping sleeve is tightened and thus the contact elements are not exposed to twisting pressure. Besides, this way dimension inaccuracy of the outer contacts of the female sockets are compensated for.

The centre pin is slotted and slightly bent up and thus guarantees with its firm spring feature a long-lasting secure electrical connection with lowest transition resistance possible.

The body element is made of brass (nickel-free gold plated) in order to accept rigid and particularly thick cables. The metal connector body is of course electrically uncoupled from the central contact unit und is made of as little metal as possible so that also WBT-0152 Cu is free from eddy current to a large extent.

Other than for digital outputs it is very important for phono outputs (record players, microphones) to have a good shielding against electromagnetic interfering fields. The undesirable interspersions can be very high depending on the nature of the devices and first of all on what they are surrounded by (cellular phones, computers etc.). WBT-0110 nextgen™ pure was designed as the perfect RCA plug for digital links, the new WBT-0152 Cu optimizes analogue connections. WBT-0152 Cu has the more conductive and with the minus contact element connected brass clamping sleeve in order to provide the necessary electromagnetic shielding.

Ultimate conductivity (one-piece signal conductor made of pure copper)

Free from eddy to a large extent wideband capability (up to 200 MHz)

Excellent electromagnetic shielding (EMI)

Absolute secure signal transmission through pat

RCA wideband plug for analogue and digital connections

1. Mechanics
− Single-element low-tolerance contact elements (Tol. < ± 0.02 mm)
− Central Contact Unit consisting of two moulded contact holders, (1)+(3) and (2)+(4)
− The holding unit (5) grips the central contact unit and also provides the cable strain relief thanks to the grub screw (8) (Torx3) T.6).
Hint: Due to the production process the radial position of the Torx screw hole relativ to the contact elements is not specified.
− The brass clamping barrel (6) and (7) is axially screwed over the thread of the holder and provides a permanent tight contact pressure. This way the plug can be adopted perfectly by every type of RCA socket.
− EMC shielding is effectively achieved by the by the clamping barrel (6) and (7) and the holding unit made of brass (5).

2. Materials
− Signal conductors (1) and (2) Pure copper
− Dielectric plus contact (3) Ultramid 1), glass-fibre reinforced
− Dielectric minus contact (4) Vectra S135 2)
