REL Subwoofers require a custom configuration. On the Subwoofer side is the Neutrik Speakon Connection. This, in turn, is connected directly to the Binding posts on your amplifier. Note: Most amplifiers have 5-way binding posts. Thus, if your main speaker cables utilize Spades, you will want to choose bananas for the REL Sub cable. And vice versa—if your speaker cables have Bananas, order the REL cable with spades. Stacking spades is never a good idea because you will never get a tight connection. If your amplifier will only accept Bananas, then ask us about our Banana options that allow another Banana to be inserted into the back side of the Banana.
The Black Dragon Speaker Cable is an important component to efficiently utilize what REL calls the Active Bass Controller (ABC). This ensures a seamless integration between the subwoofer and the main speakers. It provides the same signal to the subwoofer that the main speakers receive. You will see the connection side of your amplifier has 3 connections. The Black (-) and White (+) heatshrink will be connected to the Left Channel ,and the Red (+) will be connected to the Right Channel. The Right Channel will have no ground connection.

The Black Dragon Speaker Cable is a smooth, transparent-sounding cable that falls on the warm side of neutral, yet is very dynamic. This cable has a full presentation that adds body and warmth to your music without making it sound laid back or lush. It utilizes 4 x 11 AWG ultra-pure, slow-drawn annealed and enamel-coated copper conductors that smooth out the top end while adding bottom-end weight, making the midrange sound more musical. It is generally pretty flexible given the size of the conductors. Each strand acts as its own conductor due to the enamel coating, thus reducing skin effect. It's a great cable for vocals and a variety of music genres. Available in a variety of lengths and terminations, the Black Dragon Speaker Cable can be configured in standard, biwire, or biwire/biamp by custom request.

Cable Design
The Black Dragon has been designed to complement our Silver Dragon line. After receiving many requests from customers with systems where Silver wasn't ideal, we set out to make the best possible copper cables to fit their needs. The results exceeded our wildest dreams!
In the Black Dragon, you'll find an extremely smooth, transparent cable that's not too warm-sounding. For years, our hearing tastes have driven us toward silver, never quite appreciating the sound of copper to the same degree. Now that has changed! The Black Dragon possesses the great detail and presence of silver while providing the smooth, jazzy sound of copper. Only your ears can be the judge.
Taking what we learned from the Silver Dragon Speaker cables, we used just the right ratio of size stranding to optimize the sound and ended up with a new geometry using a special stranded grouping. The copper strandings are all 99.9999% high-quality, low-crystalline structure, pure copper. There are 4x11 AWG conductors. A standard run will yield approximately 2x6 AWG conductors, and the bi-wire will yield 4x11 AWG conductors.
The Black Dragon uses an internal bi-wire design, which will help cut costs for those of you who want to run bi-wire. We continued to use Teflon coating, as it is the best dielectric. We then cover it in a protective layer of Techflex and solder your connector of choice.
