Black Dragon IEM Cable for JH Audio JH-3a (48" only)
This cable is designed exclusively for JH Audio dual-input IEMs for use with the JH Audio JH-3A amp. The Black Dragon is great for adding bottom-end weight to your IEMs for a fuller-bodied sound. Copper conductors will warm the bass and midrange tones and smooth out the upper frequencies without sacrificing detail. You get a more musical sound with expanded soundstage depth. The Black Dragon is appropriate for most genres, but works especially well with Electronica, Dance, Pop, Rap, R&B, and other music where a big, bold presentation is desired. Get ready to be AMAZED! We are thrilled with the look, sound, and price of this cable.
"I have the cable and it is amazing. The detail is much better, and I measured a 3.2db input sensitivity increase."
Jerry Harvey, JH Audio
Quality You Can Trust
Most stock headphone cables are made of poor, ultra-thin conductors that work as a bottleneck for sound. Poor geometries, no shielding, rubber jackets, and a whole host of other issues in OEM cables can limit the performance of the headphone driver in terms of clarity and definition.
Dragon Cables are handcrafted from quality materials in Moon Audio's headquarters in Cary, North Carolina. All of our cables are created with ultra-pure, single-crystal silver and copper strands and engineered to provide the cleanest, most musical presentation. Our wire is void of impurities and crystalline boundaries, leaving nothing between you and your music.
Black Dragon Sound Signature
The Black Dragon is our top-of-the-line flagship cable designed to increase musicality and provide a warmer tonality with amazing bass performance. Copper strands increase the boldness by providing more slam and attack. It smooths out and provides a more romantic sound signature. A great way to get lost in the music.
The Black Dragon pairs well with all genres, especially Classical, Blues, Rock & Roll, R&B, and anything with a toe-tapping beat like EDM and Dance music. That being said, the Black Dragon can be paired with many other genres as well. If you love to get lost in the music and want to feel like you are at the performance, then this is the cable for you. Are your headphones a little thin sounding and need more meat on the bones, give the Black Dragon a try. Hear those subsonic frequencies like never before.
Black Dragon Cable Design
Like the Black Dragon IEM cable, the Black Dragon JH-3A IEM version is a coaxial design using a 99.99998% UP-OCC Stranded Copper 26AWG center conductor for the positive leg. With this custom setup, there are 4 cables instead of 2. The JH-3A breaks the signal path into a separate 3-way crossover pattern. Each frequency range has its own internal amplifier in the JH3A; therefore, 6 channels of conductors are required for this cable. The center conductor uses the same Kevlar reinforcing as our other Dragon cables. The center conductor is wrapped concentrically by a 99.99998% UP-OCC copper-plated single-crystallized UP-OCC pure copper stranded 26AWG gauge conductor with 7N purity 99.99998%.
The 3 left and 3 right signal cables run parallel to each other, resulting in a very low inductance. Both signal jackets are polyethylene, and the cable is extremely flexible yet very resilient and resistant to flex failure. This cable only comes in a 48-inch length and with the stock 8-pin Mini XLR required for the JH-3A amplifier.
What is UP-OCC?
UP-OCC stands for Ultra Pure Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC). This is not a material but a way of extruding silver and copper to prevent any impurities and fractures in the crystalline structure of the wire. The wire is drawn very slowly to cast as an almost perfect single-crystal small-diameter conductor. The resulting purity and the size of the cast wire make a tremendous difference, and there is less damage to the near-perfect cast state. We find that this UP-OCC process produces a very clean and close to neutral sound in our copper-based and silver-based cables.
Connecting Your Dragon IEM Cable
- Red: Right Channel
- Blue: Left Channel
- Dots should always point up
- The white connector goes above the black connector
With the red dot facing upward, slide the connector straight into the right IEM until flush with the shell. Repeat with the blue dot and the left IEM.

I have had my eyes on this cable for over a year now the only thing that put me off was the price you're probably in the same boat. I love music and my generic Apple rig literally goes every where with me. Not to be without it and being the caucuses type I bought this cable as a backup for a holiday to Aiser. After the cable arrived in a very short time I just had to give it a blast. I am very Impressed as the sound is great I am discovering small details and depth in tracks I had never heard before. It's like rediscovering your old music. I love it. Now my stock cable is the backup. This just sounds too good to hold as a reserve.

I bought the DP-X1 after many years using the original A&K 120. So this requires an adjustment to dealing with Android rather than a dedicated audio player. I was taken aback by the size and weight of the DP-X1 and the lack of detail in the finish - very sharp edges no hand or pocket fitting contours. The screen and Onkyo player software work well together and the sound is excellent especially in balanced mode. I tried three Lexar 200gb microSD cards and all failed. For now I am sticking to Sandisk 128gb cards which seem to work fine. I do not think the problem was with the DP-X1. I agree that the battery life is nowhere like 16 hours no matter how careful I am to turn off background processes and keep the display off. Functionally the DP-Xi seems like a good deal and I look forward to my time with it. My biggest let-down is the lack of finesse - I am holding a heavy metal brick rather than a personal electronic accessory. I wish it were something I could admire. Purchase and shipping from Moon was exemplary.

These Black Dragon IEM cables deliver a significant improvement over the stock cables. Let’s face it if you’re shelling out the money for an eight-driver three-way in-ear headphone you want to get the most out of it. I ordered these cables with 3.5mm termination to plug directly into my Onkyo DP-X1a (dual amp/dual DAC) DAP and the sound quality is amazing. No other in-ear headphones I’ve heard go this deep in bass and the Black Dragons get them there without losing clarity or high end extension. Thanks Moon-Audio.
