The Bathys is designed for the audiophile who doesn't want to sacrifice sound quality in a wireless scenario. The Bathys offers versatility as both a portable headphone and one that you can use in a wired setup for even greater fidelity. Not only does the Bathys deliver CD-quality sound over Bluetooth, but you can put it into USB-DAC mode, connect it to your phone or computer, and enjoy up to 24-bit, 192 resolution.
Like all Focal headphones, the Bathys is made in France with the highest attention to detail. The high-quality construction shows off a beautiful black and silver design and a comfortable fit. The frame is aluminum while the yokes are magnesium, with leather over the memory foam ear pads and headband. The grilles feature a series of various sized circles, and Focal’s flame symbol features at the center of the ear cup. A really cool feature of the Bathys is a white backlight system that you can turn on and off via the Focal-Naim app to illuminate the flame logo. The left ear cup features a touch control for selecting your ANC mode. On the right ear cup, you will find your volume up and down buttons, a multifunction button, headphone on and off buttons plus a USB DAC mode switch, a voice assistant button, USB port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Bathys uses a 40mm dynamic driver with a patented aluminum/magnesium ‘M’-shaped dome. The drivers have been slightly revamped to adapt to the constraints of a portable set of headphones – they are now lighter with a smaller volume. The result is a clear, dynamic and precise hi-fi sound, while retaining a sound signature that is optimized for use on the move: a present, ever-controlled bass. The Bathys has a neutral-warm signature that's reminiscent of the Focal Clear Mg and the Focal Celestee; it's got heft and some liveliness to it. The bass is deep and satisfying, the mids are clear and detailed, and the treble sweet and smooth. The sound signature is going to suit a variety of genres, from rock 'n' roll and blues to pop and jazz. Want to watch movies while you’re traveling? The Bathys will give you a big, exciting sound that puts you in the middle of the action.
Featuring Bluetooth 5.1 technology, 30-hour battery life when using Bluetooth® and active noise cancelling mode, the Bathys makes the perfect travel companion. Compatible with SBC, AAC, Apt-X™ and Apt-X™ Adaptive codecs, the headphone provides a broad choice of connectivity modes. Two modes of active noise cancellation are available: a Silent mode, optimized for trips with high background noise (planes, trains, etc.) and a Soft mode to aid concentration at home, in the office, etc. In addition, a Transparency mode enables you to stay connected to your surroundings.
As far as battery life, the Bathys offers 30 hours in Bluetooth ANC mode, 35 hours in jack mode, and 42 hours in USB-DAC mode. The fast-charging feature gives you 5 additional battery hours in 15 minutes of charging. A full charge only takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The dedicated Focal & Naim application enables access to an EQ that will adapt the sound to your musical preferences and other settings.
Bathys incorporates Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice assistants to stay connected at all times. It is also compatible with Google Fast Pair for a faster, more intuitive connection.
The Bathys is supplied with a Jack cable and a USB-C® cable to serve frequent travelers who want to watch films on the plane. Their compact, rigid carrying case also means they can be taken anywhere.
If you receive a phone call while you are listening to music, the playback will pause and you will hear a ringtone through the headphones. The headphones are fitted with microphones which use Clear Voice® technology. To answer, press the multifunction button. To hang up, press this same button again. To reject the call, press and hold on to the multifunction button for 2 seconds.
Yes, you can connect a 3.5mm portable headphone cable to the Bathys and listen using your phone or a DAP. You can also put the Bathys into USB DAC mode and connect it to your computer via a USB cable.

The Bathys is fitted with multipoint Bluetooth technology that allows it to be connected to two devices at the same time. The Bathys can therefore switch easily between two audio sources without using the normal process of Bluetooth reconnection. The headphones can also automatically answer a call on your phone when you are listening to audio content on another source (a computer or tablet for example). The headphones can save up to 8 devices. If more than 8 devices are connected, the device that was paired first will be removed and you will need to pair it again. To do this, press and hold the multifunction button for 4 seconds.
