Introducing the Focal Stellia Headphones, a new reference closed back headphone from Focal, a world leader in the manufacturing of high-fidelity speakers, home audio, and car audio for more than 35 years. With the introduction of the Focal Utopia and Elear headphones in 2016, Focal entered the competitive headphone market and truly positioned themselves as game-changers in the industry for creating headphones that sounded like miniature ported speakers on your ears.
I quickly told my Focal rep that was a bold statement and I couldn't wait to hear them. My rep also asked in my opinion, what should they create next. I told them if Focal could create a reference closed back around the same price point as the Utopia, Focal could really dominate the headphone industry as closed-back headphones are much harder to engineer at this price point. I'm hoping these are the answer to that wish.
We just received our first pair this morning, so I'm still listening to them with my Chord DAVE DAC at my desk and my reference CD's that I write all of my reviews with. More impressions to come in my initial review but for starters, I can clearly say these headphones are stunning. The bronze finish and brown leather headband have a very luxurious look and both contrast to their standard black collection. Once again, the craftsmanship is spectacular with great attention to detail and aesthetics and you can truly see they are engineered in small batches in France with just a few hands crafting each pair.
Here are a few details about the new Stellia headphones...
- Stellia integrates a new generation of exclusive electrodynamic speaker drivers, capable of working at low acoustic load while offering an extremely extensive frequency response (5Hz – 40kHz).
- The new 110-micron NBR surround offers low compliance and a geometry that is developed entirely in relation to its inner volume.
- The frameless copper voice coil offers an extremely reduced mass, reproducing the tiniest nuances with great precision.
Preorders are now available with arrival on or about 2/25/19.
Please stay tuned for a detailed review from Drew and a closer look at these stellar new headphones.
