Black Dragon IEM Headphone Cable V1 for Sennheiser Momentum

In stock

This Black Dragon IEM headphone cable is made specifically for the Sennheiser Momentum headphones. It is the baby brother to the original Award Winning Silver Dragon IEM cable V1.

This custom headphone cable will open the sound of your Momentums and let them breathe easier. It's also light and flexible for on-the-go listening.

The Black Dragon has a warmer sound signature than the Silver Dragon and it provides a musical presentation and greater sound stage depth. You will hear more clarity and instrumentation with great bottom end.

The Black Dragon IEM is a coaxial design using a 7N purity 99.99998% UP-OCC Stranded copper 26AWG center conductor for the positive leg. The center conductor uses the same Kevlar reinforcing as the other Dragon cables. The center conductor is wrapped concentrically by a 99.99998% UP-OCC pure copper stranded 26AWG gauge conductor with 7N purity 99.99998%.

The left and right signal cables run parallel to each other resulting in a very low inductance. Both signal jackets are polyethylene and the cable is extremely flexible yet very resilient and resistant to flex failure.

A variety of connection options are available for your downstream connection such as the mini plug, RSA/ALO, 1/4" , XLR and many others.

We custom build these in house to your connection specification. The cable can be used in either a single-ended or balanced design. The wire is soldered to a connector using high-quality Cardas silver solder.

Improved listening pleasure
Just received. Linked to my computer using Meridian headphone amp. No words are adequate to describe the listening experience. First, Abbey Road—rivals the detail from my B&W 703 speakers. Second, Ravel La Valse—detailed and clear; hearing more background instruments. Lastly, Peter Gabriel....

Thank you for producing such a great product.

The sound is much much better then the original, you can hear clearly the different instruments. Higly raccomended.
The sound is amazing but the cable is a little bit too rigid and the pin in the headphone must be shorter.

Great Cable
This is a great cable.

Great quality and superb build.

Really accentuates just the right amount of details without losing the warmth I needed.

Would buy this again.

Excellent cable upgrade for my Momentum 2.0 wireless phones
I purchased my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 wireless over-ear headphones from Drew about two weks ago, and I've been very pleased with them. When I'm not using the Bluetooth connection strictly for convenience, I use the cable connection. With the stock cable, the sound quality is significantly improved with a larger soundstage, better frequency extension and detail. Put simply, I hear more of the music. So this had me thinking about uograding the cable. I checked out the forums on Head-Fi, and there were a few recommendations, but doing a bit more research on cables sold through and eBay, I discovered issues with cable flexibility, reliability and ruggedness.

Today, I was on a business trip again to the Research Triangle Park, and made arrangements to visit Moon Audio to try his Dragons. Unfortunately, Drew didn't have the Silver Dragon IEM cables in stock, but he let me try the Black Dragon IEM cable. I sat in his listening room comparing the Black Dragon IEM cable to the stock cable. I have to say this is a significant improvement in terms of an even larger soundstage, really nice bass definition, a clear and smooth treble and fantastic midrange detail. Drew had a 4 ft. cable made for me while I continued to listen to music.

This cable is sturdy and flexible. The heat shrink used for the strain reliefs at both ends is really tough, and the Sennheiser-type locking connector engages with a nice, positive feel. Having these portable phones with this cable will really make me a happy traveler.

Worth the upgrade!
I am using the 2.0 versions of the Sennheiser Momentums with my ipHone & iPod touch. Most of the music is streamed via Apple Music. It is obvious that this is no audiophile setup, but I think it sounds good for an un-amped portable system.

I was a bit skeptical when ordering the Black Dragons because I thought that given the iDevice source that either it would not make a big difference for the $, or that it would be too resolving for streaming music from an iPhone.

I did not order a silver dragon because I did not want to go in an analytical direction with streaming music. Knowing there was a 30 day audition period, I took the chance.

For sure, an improvement that was worth it for me, I am a musician and am blessed/cursed with somewhat golden ears. This cable accomplishes exactly what I wanted from my setup.

I did not want to change the character or sound signature of the headphones, and these do not. What I notice is better detail, but with smoother highs and a tad more soundstage.

Mids are still great but smoother. Subtle improvements in the bass as well. Compared to the stock cable, it sounds clearer, smoother, and yet with more detail.

In short, it just sounds more musical and realistic. I hate V shaped sound with scooped miss, and this setup does not push that.

I ordered the 4 foot length, which is a good choice for mobile. The only thing I wonder about is that the end that exits from the headphones, while sturdy, it is kind of long.

I am careful when listening to try and not create a permanent bend in that area. Overall, I recommend this cable. It improved the sound of my portable setup liked I hoped it would.

I am currently planning a home listening station with a headphone amp & open back cans, and I will be ordering some more Dragon cables for sure. Also, Drew was very patient with answering my email questions.

I have the first original momentum head phones. There is no plug for the dragon cables. Do I need to send them in for it to be hard wired?
