MK Sound LCR-950 Speaker

Crucial to the consistency and seamless surround soundfield generated by the 950 system, front and rear speakers employ the same innovative drivers, crossover components and technologies. While this may seem like common sense, many so-called surround “systems” are in fact a hodgepodge of random odds and ends. The MK Sound 950 system is designed from the ground up as an integral system for extreme realism and three-dimensional holographic imaging. To achieve this goal, both models employ exclusive, identical 5.25” polypropylene woofers, two in the LCR950 and one in the SUR95T surround, integrated with the groundbreaking MK Sound Pro tweeter via the exclusive MK Sound Phase Focused crossover. Unlike other crossover designs that are optimized only for a narrow and shallow “sweet spot”, proprietary MK Sound Phase-Focused™ crossovers deliver razor-sharp imaging and flat frequency response over a very wide listening area by optimizing system performance in both the vertical and horizontal planes. At virtually any listening position, the audience will experience superior three-dimensional imaging and clarity for remarkable musical realism and dialog intelligibility.

The LCR-950 is a high performance two-way, bookshelf size loudspeaker utilizing a 1” polymer coated silk soft-dome, ferrofluid cooled dual-magnet tweeter with specially damped rear chamber, and dual 5¼” mineral-filled polypropylene cone, magnetically shielded cast basket woofers. Featuring MK Sound’s proprietary Phase-Focused™ Crossover, the LCR-950 provides extraordinarily even dispersion of sound throughout a broad listening area with superior imaging and sound quality. Designed for music and theater systems in small to medium size rooms, it delivers delicate sonic transparency combined with tremendous dynamic capability resulting in minimal coloration and effortless handling of voices, percussive effects, and musical instruments with life-like impact, and is timbre-matched to the SUR-95T.
