What can I say about the HE-5. Ultimate Sound for half the price. Fang really out did himself with these wonderful headphones. The HE-5 uses a planar magnetic driver which is a large, flat Mylar diaphragm, coated with superthin aluminum, suspended between rows of slender bar magnets. The HE-5's diaphragm is therefore driven over its entire area, which dramatically reduces distortion; conventional dynamic headphone drivers are "driven" by a voice coil on the outer edge of the diaphragm, so the inner portion is more likely to distort. It's like a Stax electrostatic phones but does not require a Bias voltage to drive the speaker. So it can be used with any standard dynamic headphone amp. Most planner drivers tend to be forward, crisp and can sometimes be brittle sounding. Amazingly enough the HE-5 is warm and smooth. It has plenty of definition and air to go along with that. So if you found stax phones to be to bright for your liking then this is by all means the solution for you.

The HE-5's headphone cable is removable and therefore user replaceable. It is a silver-plated copper cable with a 1/4" Plug. As seen above we will be offering Cable replacements to go along with the phones.
